YOUBI DESIGN is a Sapporo-based renovation coordination and interior design service for foreign property owners in Hokkaido. Whether you're building a vacation rental, a second home, or an investment property — I help you get it right, from the ground up.

The name comes from yō no bi — 用の美 — a Japanese philosophy that finds beauty not in appearance, but in purpose. A beautiful home isn't one that looks perfect in photos. It's one that feels right to live in — every day, through every season. That means layouts that move naturally with your daily life. Materials chosen for Hokkaido's climate, not just for aesthetics. Storage that makes tidying effortless. Light and warmth that work with the seasons. Every decision we make — from floor plan to final finish — comes back to one question: does it actually make life feel better?

Insulation — the first thing we check Many older Hokkaido properties have little or no wall insulation. Without it, heating costs soar and the space is simply not liveable in winter. This is always one of the first things we address.
